Matthew Williamson is one of the biggest and most influential fashion designers to come out of the United Kingdom over the past few decades. Matthew grew up in Manchester until the age of 17 when he accepted a place at Central St.Martin’s College in London to study for a degree in Fashion design. Following his graduation Matthew worked for companies such as Marni and high-street giants Monsoon and Accessorize. In 1997 he founded the fashion house Matthew Williamson with the CEO Joseph Velosa.

For his debut at London Fashion Week in September 1997 he showcased his ‘Electric Angels’ collection with models such as Kate Moss, Helena Christensen and Jade Jagger wearing his first collection on the runway.  In 2002 Matthew Williamson made its debut at New York Fashion Week, launching the brand to a much wider audience and placing Matthew Williamson as one of the most famous fashion designers in the world.

With the success of his global fashion brand, Matthew Williamson decided to create a line that targeted a wider set of customers by creating a collection with a more affordable price tag yet remaining with the signature style of Matthew Williamson designs. MW Matthew Williamson is the diffusion of the brand's mainline collection. It was first launched in 2011 with the first Autumn/Winter collection.

The MW Matthew Williamson line is the edgy, younger sister of the mainline Matthew Williamson collection. The muse for this collection is a modern urban girl; vibrant prints and fabrics are key to the MW Matthew Williamson diffusion line. Look out for leopard print biker jackets and shorts, also beaded embellishments on dresses and tops.

The AW12 collection is named 'Modern Nomad', which has a vibrant, contemporary feel that encapsulates the spirit of the Matthew Williamson brand, in particular his love of embellishment and luxury prints. This collection features some of this season’s hottest trends including, leather look trousers, metallic jackets and tribal themed prints.
